Agartala, May 09, 2025: The Meteorological Centre in Agartala has issued a weather alert warning of hot and humid conditions over the next two days across Tripura, with a yellow warning for rainfall and thunderstorms in effect from May 10 to 14.
In an official press release, the Met Centre stated that due to partly cloudy skies, high moisture levels, and intense solar radiation, maximum temperatures are expected to reach 37°C or higher in many parts of the state. Temperatures may remain 3 to 5°C above normal in several districts during this period.
Meanwhile, a separate bulletin from the department reported the persistence of an upper air cyclonic circulation over Northeast Assam and its surrounding areas, extending up to 3.1 km above mean sea level.
“Very light rain was recorded in one or two locations across Tripura in the last 24 hours, notably in the North district, while the rest of the state experienced dry conditions. There was also a significant rise in maximum temperatures, which remained appreciably above normal,” the department noted.
Issuing a yellow alert for the period from May 10 to 14, the Met Centre cautioned that thunderstorms accompanied by lightning are very likely to occur at isolated places in the North, Unakoti, Khowai, West, Sepahijala, Gomati, and Dhalai districts.
