India has strongly condemned China’s repeated attempts to rename places in Arunachal Pradesh, describing the move as “vain and preposterous.” The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reaffirmed that such actions will not alter the reality that Arunachal Pradesh is an integral and inalienable part of India.
MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal, responding to media queries on Wednesday, stated, “We have noticed that China has persisted with its vain and preposterous attempts to name places in the Indian state of Arunachal Pradesh. Consistent with our principled position, we reject such attempts categorically.”
Jaiswal added that “creative naming” would not change established facts. “Arunachal Pradesh was, is, and will always remain an integral part of India,” he said.
Echoing the same stance, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar had previously remarked, “If today I change the name of your house, will it become mine? Arunachal Pradesh was, is and will always be a state of India. Changing names does not have an effect.”
India has consistently rejected China’s claims over Arunachal Pradesh and asserted that unilateral renaming of places does not confer legitimacy or ownership.
