Assam: BJP To Hold Key Executive Meeting In Jorhat On May 21 After Panchayat Election Victory

Guwahati , May 17: The Assam unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) will convene a key extended executive meeting in Jorhat on May 21, following its recent victory in the Panchayat elections. The meeting aims to review the party’s electoral performance and chalk out strategies for upcoming contests, including the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR) elections and the 2026 Assam Legislative Assembly polls.

According to an official release, the meeting will be chaired by State BJP President Dilip Saikia and attended by Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma. Senior leaders including BJP National Spokesperson and North East Coordinator Sambit Patra, State In-Charge Harish Dwivedi, Union Minister Pabitra Margherita, and National Secretary and MP Kamakhya Prasad Tasa will participate.

The meeting will be held in two sessions. The first session will include the presidents, in-charges, and co-incharges of BJP’s 39 organisational districts along with state committee office bearers. The second session will bring in ministers, MPs, and MLAs for further discussions.

The party will conduct a detailed review of the Panchayat election results and assess the socio-political situation across Upper, Lower, and Southern Assam. The meeting will also focus on outlining a comprehensive roadmap for future elections.

Additionally, the BJP leadership will discuss development strategies under the guidance of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, aiming to further strengthen the ongoing development initiatives and ensure inclusive growth across the state.
