Gangtok, May 17: The Department of Tourism and Civil Aviation, Government of Sikkim, has launched an “Online Payment System” aimed at streamlining financial transactions for tourism-related establishments. The digital initiative was inaugurated by Governor Om Prakash Mathur in the presence of Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang during the 50th Statehood Day celebration held at Manan Bhawan, Gangtok.
The newly introduced system allows hotels, homestays, travel agencies, tour operators, guides, and various tourism service providers to make payments online for registration, renewal, upgradation, issuance of duplicate licenses, lease or rent of tourism assets, and arrears. It covers services for a range of tourism infrastructure, including eco-huts, ropeways, restaurants, waiting sheds, and more.
The online payment portal is accessible via the official website of the department at https://sikkimtourism.gov.in through the “Payment” section. The portal provides detailed guidelines, fee structures, and step-by-step instructions to ensure a smooth user experience.
Principal Director (Accounts) Binod Sharma led the development of the system with the goal of enhancing transparency, efficiency, and ease of access for tourism operators in the state.
The department has urged all tourism stakeholders to adopt the system for timely compliance and improved service management.
