Guwahati, May 20: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Monday once again accused Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi of visiting Pakistan on the invitation of the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI), asserting that the truth will come out by September 10.

Addressing the media, Sarma said, “Whether he went to Pakistan or not, what is the citizenship of his children, whether his wife received salary from Pakistan—he can answer these questions. Himanta Biswa Sarma may lie, but the Chief Minister of Assam cannot. If I am lying, a resolution can be passed in the Assembly and the court can summon me. Wait till September 10.”

The statement follows Sarma’s earlier claim that the Jorhat MP travelled to Pakistan under ISI’s invitation, which Gaurav Gogoi has strongly denied.

Responding on Sunday, Gogoi dismissed the allegations as “absurd” and called the Chief Minister a “troll.” In posts shared on X, he said, “I am worried about the health of the Chief Minister. He has made many baseless remarks about me over the last 13 years. The latest one borders on insanity and the absurd.”

He added, “The script the Chief Minister follows is worse than a B-grade film. To cover up one lie, a person must say countless more. That is exactly what he is doing.”

The war of words between the two leaders has intensified, with both standing firm as the September 10 deadline approaches.
