Agartala, May 22, 2025: Tripura Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratanlal Nath on Thursday laid foundation stones for several developmental projects in the Gomati district, aimed at enhancing rural infrastructure and empowering the farming community, particularly in the Matabari assembly constituency.

The minister inaugurated the foundation work for a modern market stall at Kalaban Bazar under the Matabari Agriculture sub-division. The project, backed by the Agriculture Department and valued at Rs. 2.20 crore, is expected to offer improved marketing facilities for local farmers and traders.

The foundation-laying ceremony witnessed the presence of Matabari MLA Abhishek Debroy, MLA Jitendra Majumder, and senior departmental officials.

In a parallel initiative, Minister Nath also took part in a mega outreach camp held in Garji under the central government’s PM Surya Ghar Muft Bijli Yojana. The scheme promotes solar energy adoption in households, aiming to cut electricity expenses and support sustainable living in rural regions.

Continuing the momentum, Nath laid the foundation stone for the upcoming Matabari Agri Development Research-cum-Training Centre. This facility is designed to provide farmers with training in modern agricultural practices, digital literacy, and the use of technology in farming.

Speaking about the initiative, Nath stated, “This centre will open new doors of opportunity for farmers in Matabari and neighboring areas, equipping them with essential knowledge to improve soil health and increase productivity.”

MLAs Abhishek Debroy and Jitendra Majumder, along with various government officials and public representatives, attended the event highlighting the government’s focus on agricultural advancement in the state.
