Agartala, May 23, 2025: In celebration of the International Day for Biological Diversity 2025, the Assam Rifles organized a special educational excursion for students of Assam Rifles Public School, Agartala, to the Sepahijala Zoological Park in Tripura on Thursday.
A total of 65 students took part in the visit, which was designed to raise awareness among young minds about biodiversity and its critical role in sustaining life on Earth.
“The aim was to give students firsthand exposure to the rich diversity of life and help them understand how essential it is to protect our ecosystems. This is part of our ongoing efforts to contribute to holistic education and environmental awareness,” said an official from Assam Rifles.
Students explored the vast flora and fauna housed at Sepahijala Zoological Park and observed several endangered species up close. The visit offered them valuable lessons on habitat conservation, ecological balance, and the effects of human intervention on the environment.
“The interaction with nature was both educational and eye-opening. We learned how even small efforts can make a big difference in preserving biodiversity,” said one of the participating students.
The International Day for Biological Diversity, observed globally, underscores the importance of conserving the variety of life forms on the planet and protecting fragile ecosystems. It also serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility to prevent species extinction and ensure a sustainable future.
This initiative by the Assam Rifles reflects its commitment to fostering environmental consciousness among youth and promoting a deeper respect for nature.
