Agartala, May 29, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha reaffirmed the state’s commitment to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of sustainable agriculture, highlighting the central role of natural and organic farming during the launch of the Viksit Krishi Sankalp Abhiyan in Bishramganj, Sepahijala district.

“Tripura is cultivating nearly 5,500 hectares under natural farming, echoing the Prime Minister’s vision of eco-friendly agricultural transformation,” said Dr. Saha. He emphasized the significance of adopting sustainable practices to secure long-term food security and economic resilience for farmers.

The program also spotlighted the Digital Krishi Mission-2024, a collaboration between the state government, NITI Aayog, and the Union Ministry of Agriculture. “By using artificial intelligence to provide tailored crop advisories, we are empowering our farmers with data-driven decisions to increase productivity,” Dr. Saha noted.

Recalling his recent participation in the NDA Chief Ministers’ meeting in New Delhi, the Chief Minister reiterated PM Modi’s appeal to intensify agricultural awareness campaigns to promote farmer self-reliance and innovation.

Dr. Saha informed that the state cabinet has been actively addressing challenges related to agricultural land and sustainable solutions for farming. He highlighted a substantial rise in farmers’ income, from ₹6,580 in 2015-16 to ₹13,590 in 2024-25, benefiting over 4.72 lakh farmers.

Under the PM-Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme, Tripura farmers have received ₹843.64 crore to date, while ₹10.63 crore was disbursed under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana. Through the Kisan Credit Card scheme, nearly ₹2,200 crore in financial aid has been made accessible.

Additionally, the state government has ensured ₹443 crore in direct bank transfers through the paddy procurement under Minimum Support Price (MSP), along with the distribution of 2.06 lakh soil health cards and agricultural machinery subsidies worth ₹204 crore.

“Thanks to PM Modi’s dynamic leadership, Tripura today ranks second nationally in both State GST collection and per capita income,” Dr. Saha said, attributing the state’s overall development to integrated agricultural and economic strategies.

The event concluded with the ceremonial flagging off of Krishi Raths, mobile outreach vehicles aimed at promoting sustainable agricultural practices across Tripura.

Dignitaries present included Agriculture Minister Ratanlal Nath, Sepahijala Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Supriya Das Dutta, Agriculture Secretary Apurba Roy, Sepahijala District Magistrate Siddharth Shiv Jaiswal, Agriculture Director P.B. Jamatia, and Horticulture Director Dipak Kumar Das.
