Mizoram Governor General (Retd) Vijay Kumar Singh and Lady Governor Bharti Singh took part in the Green Mizoram Day 2025 celebration by planting the state tree, Herhse, at the Upper Lawn of Raj Bhavan in Aizawl on Wednesday.
The event was held as part of the state-wide observance of Green Mizoram Day, aimed at promoting environmental protection and afforestation. In his address, the Governor expressed appreciation to the Environment, Forest & Climate Change (EF&CC) Department for organizing the programme and acknowledged the contributions of all participants.
Highlighting Mizoram’s rich greenery and biodiversity, the Governor emphasized the urgent need to strengthen afforestation efforts amid growing global climate concerns. He also urged citizens across the state to actively take part in tree planting and conservation efforts.
The programme was attended by Secretary to the Governor Ajit Roy, Chief Conservator of Forests Arti Choudhary, Divisional Forest Officer Lalnunsanga Khawlhring, and officials from the Raj Bhavan and EF&CC Department.
