Tripura CM Dr Manik Saha Extends Financial Aid of Rs 28 Lakh to Families of Drowning Victims

Agartala, June 11, 2025: In a compassionate gesture, Chief Minister Professor (Dr.) Manik Saha today handed over cheques of ₹4 lakh each to the family members of seven individuals who recently lost their lives in separate water-related incidents across West Tripura district.

The aid distribution took place in the presence of local administrative officials from the affected regions. The Chief Minister personally handed over the cheques as part of the government’s immediate relief measures.

“It is deeply saddening that so many precious lives were lost in such unfortunate incidents. My heart goes out to the families. This financial assistance is a small step to support them during their time of grief,” Dr. Saha said during the event.

The victims of these tragic incidents have been identified as Piyali Debbarma and Priyanka Debbarma from Ramsadhupara under Sidhai police station, Mahindra Singh of Jirania Jaynagar, Tanmoy Debnath of Mandaipara, Liton Saha of Ujan Abhaynagar, Prosenjit Debnath of Majlishpur Brajnagar, and Ankush Rishi Das of Pratapgarh.

Dr. Saha also offered his condolences and said, “I pray to Almighty God to give the bereaved families the strength to endure this loss.”

The Chief Minister’s visit and the financial support were widely appreciated by the families and the local community, who described the gesture as timely and humane.
