Agartala, June 13, 2025: In a joint anti-narcotics operation, Assam Rifles and the Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) confiscated around 195 kilograms of marijuana from the Taranagar area near Agartala in the early hours of Wednesday.
The seized consignment is estimated to be worth ₹30 lakh in the local market.
According to officials, the successful operation highlights the proactive stance of Assam Rifles in tackling drug trafficking across the Indo-Bangladesh border. “This seizure is a testament to our continued efforts to disrupt smuggling routes in the Northeast and protect the youth from the dangers of drug abuse,” the Assam Rifles stated in an official release.
The paramilitary force reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining a high level of vigilance and supporting national security through sustained operations against illegal trade networks in the region.
