The Arunachal Pradesh government, under the leadership of Chief Minister Pema Khandu, has approved crucial decisions to advance the state’s hydropower sector during a Special Cabinet meeting focused on the ‘Decade of Hydro Power (2025–2035)’.
The state aims to tap its vast 58,000 MW hydropower potential, with ongoing projects worth over ₹2 lakh crore covering 19 GW capacity. The Cabinet also sanctioned the establishment of an Escrow Account to ensure transparent management of the anticipated ₹4,525 crore annual revenue from free power expected to commence in 2035.
