Agartala, June 14, 2025: In a significant boost to tribal welfare and rural infrastructure, the Central Government has sanctioned the establishment of one Tribal Multipurpose Marketing Centre (TMMC) and 11 new Anganwadi Kendras in Tripura’s Gomati district.
According to official sources, the Centre has released ₹1 crore for the construction of the TMMC at Chabimura, a site known for its tourism appeal and tribal heritage. The facility is aimed at supporting tribal communities by serving as a hub for aggregation, value addition, and marketing of indigenous produce.
Tribal Multipurpose Marketing Centres are designed to improve the socio-economic status of tribal populations by reducing post-harvest losses, enhancing collective marketing, and providing access to market intelligence and potential buyers. The centres also contribute to infrastructure development by improving branding, packaging, and transportation systems in tribal regions.
Meanwhile, the official X (formerly Twitter) handle of the Gomati District Magistrate confirmed on Saturday that ₹2.78 crore has been received for electrification of un-electrified Scheduled Tribe households across remote TTAADC and non-TTAADC areas. This initiative is being implemented under the Dharti Aaba Janajatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan with a target completion date of December 31, 2025.
In a parallel development, the Government of India has approved 11 new Anganwadi Kendras for Gomati under the PM-JANMAN scheme. Construction work is expected to begin shortly, aiming to strengthen child nutrition and early childhood care services in the region.
