AMUCO And TUC Observe 1891 Manipur National War Memorial Day

The All Manipur United Clubs’ Organisation (AMUCO) and Thangmeiband United Club (TUC) jointly observed the “1891 Manipur National War Memorial Day” on Tuesday at the memorial site in Cheiraoching, Thangmeiband. The solemn event honoured the brave men and women who laid down their lives during the Anglo-Manipur War of 1891.

Participants paid floral tributes and observed a moment of silence to remember the martyrs. The gathering reflected on the war’s historical significance and the sacrifices made to defend Manipur’s freedom and sovereignty.

AMUCO President Pheiroijam Nando Luwang delivered a heartfelt speech, urging the people to remember the courage and unity of the freedom fighters. He emphasized that the legacy of the 1891 war should serve as a source of inspiration for the present generation, particularly the youth, to uphold the ideals of resistance, resilience, and cultural integrity.

Civil society organizations, community leaders, and the public participated in the event, reaffirming their commitment to preserving Manipur’s identity and working together for peace, unity, and justice.
