Guwahati, Apr 24: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma has alleged that a Member of Parliament from the state stayed in Pakistan for 15 days without informing the Indian government. Although Sarma did not name Congress MP Gaurav Gogoi, his comments were seen as targeting Gogoi, the Deputy Leader of Congress in the Lok Sabha.
The BJP has previously raised concerns about Gogoi’s British wife, Elizabeth Colburn, and her purported connections to Pakistan’s intelligence agency, the ISI.
Sarma stated, “The Assam government has information that one parliamentarian from the state stayed in Islamabad for 15 days and has links with the Pakistan embassy. Further details will be disclosed soon,” he said during a campaign event for the upcoming panchayat elections.
