Mizoram Chief Minister Holds Meeting With Brahmaputra Board Chairman

Aizawl, Apr 24: Mizoram Chief Minister Pu Lalduhoma held a meeting with Dr. Randir Singh, Chairman of the Brahmaputra Board, at his office in Aizawl on Wednesday. The discussion centered on the ongoing activities and future initiatives of the Board in Mizoram.

Pu Lalduhoma expressed appreciation for the Board’s efforts and assured the State Government’s full support for its initiatives. He emphasized the State’s willingness to make necessary policy amendments to facilitate access to the Central Government’s flood bank zoning and related funding.

The Chief Minister also underlined the importance of cooperation in areas such as water source development, watershed management, rainwater harvesting, multi-purpose irrigation projects, and building a safer riverine system.

Dr. Randir Singh provided an overview of the Brahmaputra Board’s mandate, which focuses on the integrated development of the Brahmaputra and Barak river basins, particularly in the North Eastern region. He highlighted the Board’s ongoing projects, including flood management, bank erosion control, and drainage development.

Dr. Singh also discussed the regional office in Zemabawk, Mizoram, which is currently operating from a rented private building, and shared plans to accelerate critical initiatives in the state.

Dr. Randir Singh was accompanied by Er. Lalrothanga, Secretary of the Irrigation & Water Resources Department, and other senior officials from the Brahmaputra Board.
