Security forces arrested three militants belonging to different proscribed outfits from various locations across Imphal valley on Wednesday, police said on Thursday.

An active member of the banned Kangleipak Communist Party (Nongdrenkhomba), identified as Loushambam Sundar Singh alias Bungbung (34), was arrested from Nongpok Sanjenbam in Imphal East district. He was reportedly involved in extortion activities.

Another militant affiliated with the banned Kanglei Yawol Kanna Lup (KYKL) was apprehended from Keibi Heikak Mapal, also in Imphal East.

In a separate operation, security forces arrested an active member of the banned People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK) from Sawombung Pourabi in the same district. He too was allegedly involved in extortion.

A cache of arms and explosives, including three SMG carbines with magazines, one 9 mm pistol with magazine, ammunition, four hand grenades, three wireless sets, two detonators, and two MK 13T explosives, was recovered from Pourabi village.
