Quasar Khanam of Kshetri Awang Leikai has made Manipur proud by clinching a gold medal in the 64 kg weightlifting category at the 4th Arunachal State Games 2025, held from April 18 to 22. Her stellar performance has earned praise and congratulations from across the state, including a heartfelt acknowledgment from the All Meitei Pangal Students’ Union of Manipur (AMPSUM).
According to reports, Khanam lifted a total of 163 kg—73 kg in the snatch and 90 kg in the clean and jerk—securing the top spot in her category. She is the daughter of Mohammad Rahman and Akbari Lakizan Shahni of Kshetri Awang Leikai.
In a statement, AMPSUM Vice-President Salman Khurshid lauded Khanam’s determination and excellence, stating that her victory not only brings pride to her family and community but also serves as an inspiration to the youth of Manipur.
