Gangtok, Apr 29: Naren Gurung, the celebrated folk dancer and singer from Sikkim, was conferred the Padma Shri Award by President of India, Smt Droupadi Murmu, in a ceremony held in New Delhi.
The award recognizes Gurung’s outstanding contribution to the preservation and promotion of Sikkim’s rich folk traditions and cultural heritage. His dedication to the arts has earned him national recognition and immense pride among the people of Sikkim.
Chief Minister of Sikkim, Prem Singh Tamang, congratulated Gurung, stating, “On behalf of the people of Sikkim, I extend my warmest congratulations and best wishes to Naren Gurung for his success and inspiring journey ahead.”
