Gangtok, May 3: Sikkim Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang-Golay met with the team from the Katalytic Charter Education Foundation (KCF) to review the progress and future direction of educational reform initiatives in the state.

KCF is driving significant changes in education through the establishment of the Chief Minister’s Charter School (CMCS) at Pangthang Junior High School, launched in 2024. The school, operating under a public-private partnership model, is Sikkim’s first charter school and serves as a pilot project for future initiatives.

Key interventions by KCF, including play-based learning, the Parakh assessment framework, and a focus on foundational literacy and numeracy, have already shown encouraging results. Looking ahead, KCF is set to launch a 9-month Statewide Remedial and Enrichment Programme aimed at improving Grade 10 CBSE pass percentages. The programme will focus on intensive teacher training, student support, and regular progress monitoring.

The Chief Minister reaffirmed the government’s support for KCF’s efforts to improve the quality and accessibility of education across Sikkim.
