Agartala, May 05, 2025: A group of job-seeking youths staged a joint protest on Monday, demanding the immediate completion of the long-delayed recruitment process for prison police positions. The protestors later submitted a deputation to the Tripura’s Inspector General (IG) of Jail Police Jayanta Dey urging swift action.
According to one of the protestors, the recruitment process for 249 jail warden posts began in 2022 with the release of interview notifications. However, the process was abruptly halted due to the announcement of elections, and no further updates have been issued for over two years.
“Despite submitting nearly 20 deputations over the last three years, we have received no response,” the protestor stated. “We were left with no option but to approach the IG directly once again.”
The delegation also appealed to the Chief Minister to intervene and take the necessary steps to expedite the recruitment process, which has remained in limbo, leaving hundreds of aspirants in uncertainty.
