Shillong, May 7 : The Meghalaya government has instructed the deputy commissioners of East Jaintia Hills and West Jaintia Hills districts to expedite the ongoing fencing work along the India-Bangladesh border.
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong announced on Tuesday that more than 40 kilometers of the border in Meghalaya remain unfenced. The state government aims to complete the fencing at the earliest to allow the Border Security Force (BSF) to better secure the region.
Tynsong emphasized that the fencing work is a top priority and must be completed promptly to strengthen border security.
