The Confederation of Nagaland Chamber of Commerce and Industry (CNCCI) on Monday began a voluntary indefinite business shutdown across nine districts of the state. The districts affected include Dimapur, Chümoukedima, Niuland, Peren, Wokha, Zunheboto, Phek, Tseminyu, and Meluri.

The shutdown is being observed in protest against the Nagaland government’s failure to nominate representatives from the business community to the Urban Local Bodies (ULBs). CNCCI has been raising this demand repeatedly, citing the importance of business community participation in local governance.

The Wokha District Chamber of Commerce and Industry (WDCCI) has expressed strong support for the move, stating its firm commitment and solidarity with the CNCCI’s call.
