Gangtok, May 20: Yasika Rai from Namchi, Sikkim, has earned a place in the Indian boxing contingent for the upcoming Thailand Open International Boxing Tournament 2025, scheduled to be held in Bangkok from May 22 to June 2.
The Sikkim Amateur Boxing Association (SABA) announced her selection, calling it a proud moment for the state. Yasika, daughter of Mahesh Kumar Rai and Bhayatri Rai, began her boxing journey under the guidance of coaches Mukesh Rai and Subas Tamang. Her consistent performance at state and national events has led to this international opportunity.
SABA lauded her achievement, stating that her dedication and determination have brought her to this stage. “Yasika’s progress from Namchi to the international ring is a testament to her focus and hard work,” the association said in a statement.
As Yasika prepares to represent India, she carries with her the hopes and best wishes of the people of Sikkim and the country.
