Agartala, May 22, 2025: Tripura’s Panchayati Raj system has earned fresh national acclaim, with Paschim Majlishpur Gram Panchayat from Jirania RD Block in West Tripura securing the Silver Award under the National Awards for e-Governance 2024–2025. The recognition comes under the category “Grassroot Level Initiatives for Deepening/Widening of Service Delivery with focus on initiatives by Gram Panchayats or equivalent Traditional Local Bodies.”
Expressing his pride and joy, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Thursday said, “A new feather added to the crown of the success of the Panchayati Raj system in Tripura! For its excellent work in expanding the scope of service delivery at the grassroots level, the Paschim Majlishpur Gram Panchayat under the state’s Jirania RD Block has secured second place in a competition with panchayats from other states of the country.”
As per the official communication from the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG) under the Ministry of Personnel, Public Grievances and Pensions, the Paschim Majlishpur team will be felicitated with a trophy, certificate, and a cash award of ₹5 lakh at the National Conference on e-Governance, scheduled to be held in Visakhapatnam on June 9–10, 2025.
Dr. Saha further highlighted Tripura’s consistent achievements, stating, “Incidentally, last year Tripura won a total of seven national awards in various categories for excellence in Panchayati Raj management, which is the highest in the country.”
Meanwhile, Majlishpur MLA and Minister Sushanta Chowdhury on Wednesday expressed heartfelt appreciation for the West Majlishpur Gram Panchayat under the Jirania RD Block for earning national recognition in the Panchayati Raj system. The Panchayat has secured second place among Panchayats across the country for its outstanding contribution to grassroots service delivery.
“Under the dynamic leadership of our Chief Minister Prof. Dr. Manik Saha, the Panchayati Raj system in Tripura is witnessing a golden era of development and empowerment. It is a moment of pride that West Majlipur Gram Panchayat has brought laurels to our state by standing second among the Panchayats of other states of India,” said Chowdhury.
Acknowledging the efforts behind the achievement, he added, “I extend my sincere congratulations to all the elected representatives and officers of the West Majlipur Gram Panchayat — especially the Pradhan, Upa-Pradhan and every member of the Panchayat team. This remarkable success in delivering citizen-centric services is a result of the collective dedication and tireless work of all involved.”
