Agartala, May 23, 2025: The Tripura State Electricity Corporation Limited (TSECL) successfully hosted the 55th Commercial Sub-Committee Meeting (CCM) of the North Eastern Regional Power Committee (NERPC) at the distinguished Sonar Tori State Guest House, drawing participation from top power sector officials and stakeholders across the Northeast.
Chaired by K.B. Jagtap, IES, Member Secretary of NERPC, the high-level meeting saw the presence of key dignitaries including D.K. Bauri, IES, Director of NERPC; Biswajit Basu, Managing Director of TSECL; and Sarvajit Singh Dogra, Director (Finance), TSECL. Delegates from the Central Electricity Authority (CEA), central utilities, and state representatives from Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Meghalaya, Mizoram, and Nagaland also took part in the deliberations.
The meeting began with the ceremonial watering of plants, symbolizing growth and sustainability, followed by a welcome address by TSECL MD Biswajit Basu. In his speech, Basu reiterated TSECL’s commitment to enhancing regional cooperation, promoting transparency, and embracing innovation in power operations. His leadership was widely appreciated by attendees for its forward-looking vision and emphasis on Tripura’s growing role in the Northeast’s energy landscape.
Sarvajit Singh Dogra, Director (Finance), played a pivotal role in the discussions, offering expert insights into commercial strategies, financial discipline, and infrastructure funding. He emphasized the importance of robust financial structuring to drive long-term sustainability in the transmission segment.
The meeting’s agenda covered a wide spectrum of pressing issues, including transmission charge settlements, inter-state drawal discrepancies, cybersecurity enhancements at substations, and reconciliation of commercial accounts. Key topics such as fund contributions, asset monetization, and investment models were explored in detail, with the CEA presenting on capital recycling strategies for future growth.
Participants exchanged views on evolving regulatory dynamics, generation and transmission coordination, and the need for cohesive regional strategies to ensure grid stability and efficiency.
Concluding the session, Sujata Sarkar, DGM (Commercial & Tariff), TSECL, thanked delegates for their active engagement and reaffirmed TSECL’s dedication to fostering regional unity and operational excellence in the power sector.
