Agartala, May 26, 2025: Founder of the Tipra Motha Party, Pradyot Kishore Manikya Debbarma, has issued a directive to his party’s MLAs, Members of District Councils (MDCs), and grassroots workers to identify and report illegal immigrants allegedly residing in Tripura and unlawfully availing government benefits.
Taking to social media on Monday, Pradyot emphasized that even Union Home Minister Amit Shah and the Supreme Court have clearly stated that illegal immigrants have no right to remain in India. “I have been raising this issue for the past 10 years,” he said. “I have filed a case in the Supreme Court regarding the NRC. Our stand has always been firm.”
Expressing concern over what he called a growing demographic threat, Pradyot alleged that illegal immigrants from Bangladesh, including Rohingyas, are not only crossing into Tripura but also managing to obtain documents such as Voter ID cards and Ration Cards. “They will one day influence the results of the 2028 elections and decide who becomes an MLA, MP, or Chief Minister. We cannot let this happen,” he said.
He further instructed party representatives to approach District Magistrates (DMs), Sub-Divisional Magistrates (SDMs), and Block Development Officers (BDOs) to inquire into the issuance of Aadhaar and Ration Cards and to monitor the presence of undocumented settlers.
“This is not the time for political fights. It’s time to unite and protect our future. Illegal immigrants must not be allowed to access Indian benefits. Only genuine Indian citizens should receive government support,” he stated.
