Gauhati High Court Issues Notice To Assam Government To Provide Details On ‘Declared Foreigners’

Guwahati, May 30: The Gauhati High Court has issued a notice to the Assam government, directing it to provide details on the whereabouts of two brothers, Abu Bakkar Siddik and Akbar Ali, who were declared foreigners by a tribunal and reportedly detained by Nagarbera police in Kamrup district on May 25.

The Division Bench of Justice Kalyan Rai Surana and Justice Malasri Nandi also sought a response on the alleged arbitrary arrest of declared foreigners who fear illegal pushbacks. The matter has been listed for the next hearing on June 4.
