Lok Sabha MP Gaurav Gogoi formally assumed charge as the new president of the Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) on Tuesday.

He succeeded Bhupen Kumar Borah, who held the post for over three years. The handover took place at the state Congress headquarters in Guwahati.

Senior party leaders, including All India Congress Committee (AICC) general secretary Jitendra Singh and Leader of the Opposition in the Assam Legislative Assembly Debabrata Saikia, were present at the event.
