The body of Army soldier Sainuddhin P.K. was recovered on Monday in Mangan district, Sikkim. He was among six soldiers reported missing after a landslide struck a military camp at Chaten in north Sikkim on June 1.
Mangan Superintendent of Police Sonam Detchu Bhutia confirmed the recovery and said rescue teams continue to search for the remaining five missing personnel. The landslide also claimed three other lives and injured four soldiers.
Heavy rainfall in recent days triggered multiple landslides in North Sikkim, disrupting road and communication networks. Nearly 2,000 tourists stranded in Lachen, Lachung, and Chungthang were evacuated by road and air earlier this week through rescue operations.
