Agartala, June 11, 2025: Tripura’s Agriculture and Farmers Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath launched a sharp critique against the Congress party on Wednesday, accusing it of presiding over a corruption-ridden regime. In contrast, he lauded the BJP-led government under Prime Minister Narendra Modi for ushering in what he described as a new era of transparent and inclusive development.

Addressing a press conference in Unakoti district, Nath said, “In the past 11 years of Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, we’ve witnessed a government rooted in Seva (service), Garib Kalyan (welfare of the poor), and good governance. The roadmap towards a Viksit Bharat by 2047 has been clearly defined.”

He credited flagship programmes such as Make in India, Start-up India, and Vocal for Local as driving forces behind India’s economic transformation, calling them “catalysts for accelerated growth.”

Sharing his personal observations, Nath remarked, “In my five decades of political experience, I have never seen such comprehensive development at both national and state levels.”

He drew a sharp contrast between the BJP and the Congress, stating, “The Congress era was plagued by scams and corruption. But under Modi ji’s leadership, transparency is paramount—‘Na khaunga, na khane dunga’.”

Highlighting India’s rising global stature, Nath said the country has climbed from the world’s 11th largest economy to the fourth, and is poised to become the third soon.

He also spotlighted significant achievements of the Modi government: 84% of the population now covered by the Jal Jeevan Mission, up from 3%; Fivefold increase in agriculture budget for 2025-26; Over Rs 3.90 lakh crore disbursed to more than 11 crore farmers under PM-Kisan, including Rs 843 crore to 2.83 lakh Tripura farmers; and Rs 1,750 crore paid out through the PM Fasal Bima Yojana.

Nath further said, “India today constructs 34 km of national highways daily. We have 136 Vande Bharat trains and 103 Amrit Bharat railway stations operational.”

He attributed the reduction in corruption to the Digital India initiative and cited India’s global leadership in sectors like milk, cotton, and spices, along with second-place rankings in rice, fish, eggs, and sugar production.

“Every village in the country has now been electrified. This is the scale of transformation we’re witnessing,” Nath concluded.
