The Arunachal Pradesh Cabinet has issued key directives to expedite the implementation of the Siang Upper Multipurpose Project (SUMP), which has been designated as a project of national importance due to its strategic and developmental significance.
During the meeting, the Cabinet emphasized the importance of continued engagement with Project Affected Families (PAFs). It directed that fair and just compensation be ensured along with a comprehensive Rehabilitation and Resettlement (R&R) Plan.
To support future urban development, the Cabinet also approved the formation of the New Yingkiong and Geku Development Authorities. These bodies will oversee the planning and development of modern, alternate towns in the region.
Additionally, the Cabinet approved a survey for the construction of a necklace road along the Siang River to enhance regional connectivity.
