Meghalaya CM Conrad Sangma Inaugurates Health Summit In Shillong

Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Monday inaugurated the Meghalaya Health Summit in Shillong and handed over appointment letters to newly recruited Auxiliary Nurse Midwives (ANMs) and General Nursing and Midwifery (GNM) staff.

Speaking at the event, the Chief Minister said the new recruits would soon begin serving communities across the state and urged them to serve with empathy, integrity, and passion.

Addressing the gathering, he highlighted the state government’s focus on strengthening the healthcare sector over the past seven years. He said Meghalaya has given the highest budgetary allocation in the country to the health sector, reflecting its importance in the state’s development agenda.

During the inaugural session, the Chief Minister outlined key areas of focus, including the recruitment and deployment of skilled health personnel, upgrading of healthcare infrastructure, and the use of technology to build a proactive and responsive health system.

The day-long summit is expected to feature discussions on strengthening healthcare delivery and policy in Meghalaya.
