Agartala, June 20, 2025: In a major push toward rural upliftment and inclusive development, Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday virtually inaugurated a series of infrastructure projects aimed at strengthening education, healthcare and administrative services across the South Tripura district.

The virtual event saw participation from district officials, school staff and local residents connecting multiple locations in a coordinated rollout of public service enhancements.

A significant milestone was marked with the inauguration of a new double-storied academic block at BK Institute in Belonia. Equipped with classrooms, a science lab, library, improved sanitation and drainage facilities, the upgrade is designed to provide a better learning environment for students.

Further strengthening educational infrastructure under the Vidyajyoti Scheme, upgraded facilities were introduced at South Sonaichari, Kalashi, Baikhora English Medium, Manubankul and Srinagar Higher Secondary Schools. Kalashi and Manubankul schools now boast advanced science laboratories for Physics, Chemistry and Biology to support STEM education.

In a boost to tribal student welfare, the government also inaugurated a 50-seated double-storied ST Girls’ Hostel at Kalashi and an ST Boys’ Hostel at Chatakchari. These hostels include secured premises and aim to ensure safe and conducive accommodation for students from remote areas.

On the healthcare front, new Block Public Health Units were launched at Maichara PHC and Manubankul CHC, intended to enhance emergency and diagnostic services at the grassroots. Additionally, a 20-bed expansion at Muhuripur PHC will help address growing healthcare demands.

To streamline administrative access, new Tahasil Kachari offices were inaugurated at Maichara, SBC Nagar, Radhanagar, Matai, Jolaibari, Baikhora and Bhuratali easing public access to land and revenue services.

Describing the developments as part of a holistic growth strategy, Chief Minister Saha said the initiatives are aimed at bridging urban-rural gaps and empowering communities across the state.
