Shillong, Jun 25: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma on Wednesday inaugurated the Williamson Sangma Meghalaya State Museum at the U Soso Tham Auditorium premises in Shillong.

The museum aims to celebrate and preserve the rich cultural heritage of the state, featuring indigenous artifacts, traditional fabrics, and exhibits highlighting Meghalaya’s diverse traditions. It also honors the legacy of the Hill State Movement and its pioneers, particularly Captain Williamson Sangma, the state’s first Chief Minister.

During the ceremony, a commemorative stamp of Captain Williamson Sangma was released, and a special cover of the museum was unveiled by India Post. The new logo of the Arts and Culture Department was also introduced on the occasion.

The event was attended by members of Captain Williamson Sangma’s family and other dignitaries.
