Agartala, June 27, 2025: Agartala East Police Station arrested two Bangladeshi nationals and an Indian tout on charges of illegally infiltrating Tripura by misleading the Border Security Force (BSF). The arrest was made based on a tip-off, and a specific case has been registered under relevant legal provisions.
The accused have been identified as Bangladeshi citizens Ruma Sheikh and Aklima Akhter along with Krishna Debnath, a resident of Natunbazar in Tripura, who is alleged to have facilitated their illegal entry.
Speaking on the matter, a police official said, “We received confidential information that two suspicious women were loitering in the North Gate area. Acting swiftly, a police team launched a search operation and detained the trio. During interrogation, it was confirmed that the two women had illegally crossed the border with the help of the Indian broker.”
The arrest has once again highlighted the continuing issue of cross-border infiltration in the state, despite heightened surveillance along the Indo-Bangladesh border.
“Infiltration through brokers by breaching barbed wire fencing remains a challenge. These arrests are part of our ongoing efforts to curb illegal entry and dismantle such networks,” the officer added.
All three accused are currently in police custody, and further investigation is underway.
