Agartala, June 27, 2025: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has formally initiated the process to elect its new Tripura State president, with the election scheduled to take place on June 29. The notification was issued on Friday by the State Returning Officer, Samarendra Chandra Deb, in accordance with the BJP Constitution and the directives of the Central Election Authority.
According to the election schedule, the notification of the election and the publication of the State Electoral College list will take place on June 27. On June 28, nomination papers can be submitted at 12:00 PM, followed by scrutiny at 2:00 PM. The deadline for withdrawal of nominations is set for 2:30 PM, and the final list of contesting candidates will be published at 3:00 PM. If required, polling will be conducted on June 29 at 1:00 PM, with counting of votes and declaration of results scheduled for 3:00 PM the same day.
Nomination forms are available at the BJP state headquarters, and all participants must strictly adhere to the official timings for a valid candidacy.
The post is currently held by Rajib Bhattacharjee, who now serves as a Rajya Sabha MP from Tripura. Following the completion of organizational elections at the booth, mandal, and district levels, the focus has now shifted to the crucial state-level leadership.
Speculation is rife within party circles over the likely successor, with the names of Minister Tinku Roy, MLA Bhagaban Chandra Das, Pradesh General Secretary and MLA Kishor Barman reportedly under consideration. However, the final decision will rest with the BJP Central Command.
