The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall over several northeastern states, including Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Tripura. The forecast indicates that isolated places in these states may experience intense rainfall on Monday, with similar conditions expected to continue till July 5.
The IMD has also included West Bengal and Sikkim in its alert, cautioning of possible heavy showers due to active monsoon conditions in the region.
Residents in the affected areas have been advised to stay alert, as the heavy rains could lead to localized flooding, landslides, and disruption in transport and communication services.
Elsewhere in the country, extremely heavy rainfall is likely over parts of Jharkhand, with heavy showers forecast in Odisha, Bihar, Madhya Pradesh, and Chhattisgarh during the same period.
