The Assam Youth Congress has filed two separate FIRs against Cabinet Minister Jayanta Mallabaruah, alleging corruption in the execution of the Garukhuti agricultural project. The complaints were submitted in Guwahati and Biswanath, with demands for a detailed investigation into the alleged misuse of public funds.
In Guwahati, the FIR was lodged at Bhangagarh Police Station, where Youth Congress leaders accused the minister of diverting welfare scheme funds to politically connected individuals and flagged irregularities in the distribution of scheme benefits.
The second FIR was filed by the Biswanath District Youth Congress, which alleged criminal misappropriation and corruption in the procurement of Gir cows for the project. District Congress President Manash Jyoti Saikia urged authorities to conduct an impartial inquiry.
Congress spokesperson Deep Bayan stated that the FIRs underscore broader concerns about financial transparency and accountability in state-run projects.
