Assam has achieved its highest-ever paddy procurement during the Kharif Marketing Season (KMS) 2024–25, with a record 6.97 lakh metric tonnes procured, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Tuesday.
The Chief Minister highlighted the steady increase in procurement over the years, with 5.92 lakh metric tonnes procured in 2022–23 and 3.14 lakh metric tonnes in 2023–24. The latest figure marks a significant milestone in the state’s agricultural sector.
Sarma said the achievement reflects the government’s commitment to connecting farmers with markets and ensuring they receive the Minimum Support Price (MSP). He also expressed gratitude to all officials and departments involved in the procurement process.
