Michelin Star Chef Vikas Khanna will host an Assam Tea Festival at his New York restaurant, ‘Bungalow’, as part of the 200 Years of Assam Tea celebrations. The announcement was made during a business roundtable hosted by the Consulate General of India in New York, where Khanna attended as the Guest of Honour.

Khanna, who has visited Assam 11 times, spoke about his deep connection with the state and praised its rich culture, the distinctive flavour of its tea, and the warmth of its people.

Proposing the festival as a tribute to Assam’s legacy in the global tea industry, Khanna said that Assam’s tea, cuisine, textiles, and cultural traditions reflect India’s soft power and deserve greater international recognition.

The Government of Assam has welcomed the initiative and extended its full support. The proposed festival is expected to enhance the global presence of Assam Tea and promote the state’s cultural identity on an international platform.
