With the farming season underway, the Manipur government has significantly stepped up security arrangements across the state to ensure the safety of farmers and prevent any untoward incidents, especially in sensitive and vulnerable areas.

A high-level Combined Headquarters (CHQ) meeting was convened on June 28, 2025, under the chairmanship of the Security Advisor, with the Chief Secretary and the Director General of Police also in attendance. The meeting, which included participation from all security forces, reviewed the current security scenario and focused on improving coordination to avert incidents like the recent violence reported at Phubala in Bishnupur district.

To bolster security in vulnerable areas on both the hill and valley sides, Manipur Police personnel have been strategically deployed to support Central Security Forces in safeguarding agricultural zones and farmers during their work.

In particular, Central forces have been redeployed around the Phubala area to reinforce security efforts. Additionally, the Police Headquarters has issued alert messages to all District Superintendents of Police, directing them to implement heightened security protocols. Senior police officers are also making field visits to oversee on-ground arrangements and to identify agricultural zones that may need increased surveillance and protection.

Joint combing operations are being carried out regularly, particularly in fringe and interior hill areas, to root out potential threats. The administration has also established flying squads and Quick Response Teams (QRTs) to provide immediate assistance whenever necessary.

Local coordination meetings involving the district administration, police, and the public have been held to address farming-related issues, including safe farming hours.

The public, especially farmers, have been urged to remain vigilant and to inform local police or security forces before commencing agricultural activities in areas deemed vulnerable or sensitive.
