Agartala, July 04, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha on Friday launched the Tripura School Assessment and Accreditation Framework (TSAAF), a major step aimed at identifying gaps in the state’s school education system and fostering institutional improvement.

The framework aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP) will serve as a tool to assess both academic and infrastructural standards in schools across the state.

“Our aim is to transform every school in Tripura into a centre of excellence, contributing to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of a Viksit Bharat by 2047,” said the Chief Minister while addressing the launch event.

Highlighting the state’s progress in literacy and education outcomes, Dr. Saha said, “Tripura is now a fully literate state, the third in the country after Mizoram and Goa. The performance in board examinations has improved significantly — pass percentages in Class 10 and Class 12 in Vidyajyoti (CBSE) schools increased by 26% and 21% respectively this year compared to 2024.”

The Chief Minister also addressed the persistent issue of teacher shortages, indirectly referring to the fallout from the termination of 10,323 teachers whose appointments were nullified by the Supreme Court.

“A vacuum was created in the teaching workforce due to circumstances we are all aware of,” he said. “However, we are actively recruiting qualified candidates through the Tripura Teachers’ Recruitment Board (TRBT). So far, 226 graduate and undergraduate teachers have been appointed, and efforts are ongoing to fill vacancies without compromising on quality.”

The launch of TSAAF marks a strategic shift in the state’s educational policy framework, aiming to institutionalize accountability and excellence in the schooling system.
