Agartala, July 05, 2025: The Advisory Committee meeting of Agartala’s Maharaja Bir Bikram (MBB) Airport was held on Saturday at the airport’s old terminal building, with former Chief Minister and Member of Parliament Biplab Kumar Deb presiding over the session.

Speaking at the meeting, MP Deb emphasized the significance of the Advisory Committee’s role in addressing operational and passenger-related issues at the airport.

“This committee meeting is held every two years to review both the advantages and the shortcomings of the airport. Many of the airport’s problems are resolved during these discussions, and those that remain are taken up with the Government of India,” Deb said.

Highlighting the airport’s growing stature in the region, the MP noted, “After Guwahati Airport, MBB Airport has the highest number of flights in the Northeast. This is a matter of pride for Tripura.”

He further informed that discussions were held on expanding services, including increasing the number of flights, enhancing lighting infrastructure, offering stalls at affordable rental rates, and improving passenger amenities.

Those present at the meeting included MBB Airport Director KC Meena, West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, West Tripura Superintendent of Police Dr. Kiran Kumar K, and former MLA Krishna Dhan Das, among other members of the Advisory Committee.
