Agartala, July 7, 2025: Train services under the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) have been severely disrupted due to a landslide in the Lumding–Badarpur Hill section, forcing the railway authorities to announce full and partial cancellations, rescheduling, and regulation of several trains.
According to an official press release, a landslide occurred at KM-51/1-2 between Mupa and Dihakho stations in the Lumding Division, leading to a blockage of tracks. Restoration work is currently underway, with teams working continuously to clear debris, boulders, and ensure safety for the resumption of operations.
As a result, services on key routes connecting Assam, Tripura, Dima Hasao, and the Barak Valley have been significantly affected. Several express and passenger trains have been either cancelled, short-terminated, or rescheduled, leading to considerable inconvenience for commuters.
Affected Services to and from Tripura:
- Train No. 12501 Kolkata–Agartala Express (July 6) has been short-terminated at Guwahati and will remain partially cancelled between Guwahati and Agartala.
- Train No. 14037 Silchar–Anand Vihar Terminal Express and Train No. 20501 Agartala–Anand Vihar Tejas Express (July 7) have been rescheduled to depart at 06:00 AM on July 8.
- Train No. 12503 SMVT Bengaluru–Agartala Express (July 4), Train No. 13173 Sealdah–Sabroom Kanchanjunga Express, Train No. 01666 Agartala–Rani Kamalapati Special, and Train No. 15642 New Tinsukia–Silchar Express (July 6) will be regulated based on real-time operational assessments.
To mitigate passenger inconvenience, the NFR has activated help desks at Guwahati, Lumding, Silchar, Badarpur, and Agartala railway stations. Authorities have also imposed speed restrictions and temporary halts in vulnerable sections of the hill tract to ensure safety.
Passengers have been advised to check official railway websites and inquiry counters for real-time updates on train schedules and diversions.
Restoration efforts are ongoing as the NFR works to normalize train movement at the earliest.
