Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Thursday announced that five Bangladeshi nationals and three Rohingyas were pushed back to Bangladesh by Assam Police from the Cachar and Sribhumi areas.

Taking to his official X handle, the Chief Minister stated that “protecting Assam’s interests is foremost” and reiterated the government’s firm stance against illegal infiltration.

“Early this morning, @assampolice pushed back 5 Bangladeshis and 3 Rohingyas back to Bangladesh from Cachar and Sribhumi. Illegal infiltrators will not be allowed to stay in Assam and threaten our identity,” CM posted.

The state government has been maintaining strict surveillance along the international border and has intensified measures against illegal entry in recent months.
