Security forces have arrested three militants belonging to different proscribed outfits for their alleged involvement in extortion activities targeting businessmen and the general public in Imphal West, Imphal East, and Thoubal districts, police said on Monday.
In the first incident, an active cadre of the banned United National Liberation Front (P) was apprehended on Saturday from Mayang Imphal Bengoon Makha Leikai in Imphal West. He was allegedly engaged in extortion in the Mayang Imphal area.

In a separate operation, Manipur Police arrested an active member of KCP (Apunba City Meitei) from Thoubal Kshetri Leikai Moirangpalli under Thoubal Police Station. The individual was reportedly involved in extorting money from government employees in Thoubal district. Police recovered a red Honda Activa two-wheeler and one 36 HE hand grenade from his possession.

On Sunday, another active cadre, affiliated with the Kangleipak Communist Party (MFL), was nabbed from Hapta Kangjeibung in Imphal East. He was accused of extorting money from local businessmen.
Further investigations are underway in all three cases.
