Kohima, July 14: Nagaland’s Kohima district recently hosted a one-day sensitization programme at Jakhama to celebrate and promote the welfare of the girl child. Organized by the Kohima District Administration in collaboration with SANKALP – District Hub for Empowerment of Women, Naga Hospital Authority Kohima, and the Department of Post, the event aimed to raise awareness on the importance of nurturing and valuing girls.
The programme included free health check-ups, Aadhaar enrollment for girls under five years, and financial literacy sessions for families. In a symbolic gesture, officials also planted trees named after girl children to emphasize growth and care.
