Agartala, July 15, 2025: Tripura Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha has written to Union Home Minister Amit Shah, expressing concern over the challenges faced by the Bru community in the state. Emphasising the importance of inclusive development, the Chief Minister stated that the progress of the nation is incomplete without uplifting the Janajati communities.

Dr. Saha made these remarks while addressing the District-Level Mega Campaign under the Dharti Aaba Jan Bhagidari Abhiyan at the Gobinda Community Hall in Jirania Sub-Division on Sunday.

In his address, the Chief Minister criticised the previous CPI(M)-led government for allegedly using the tribal population as a vote bank. “They used the Janajati community only for vote bank politics. In contrast, the BJP government is working tirelessly to make them self-reliant and empowered,” he said.

Highlighting the efforts made by the BJP-led government since 2018, Dr. Saha spoke of several schemes aimed at the welfare of tribal communities, including access to drinking water, hostels for Janajati students, tribal multipurpose marketing centres, and distribution of land pattas.

Reiterating Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s commitment to tribal welfare, CM Saha said, “What PM Modi says, he delivers. He has been working since 2014 to ensure the development of Janajati communities. Today, the President of India belongs to the tribal community, and even the Governor of Telangana is a Janajati from Tripura’s royal family.”

Dr. Saha also lauded the Prime Minister’s ability to connect with the people, stating, “PM Modi’s Mann Ki Baat bridges the gap between the government and citizens like no other leader in the world.”

He further informed that under the Dharti Aaba Jan Bhagidari campaign, 779 Gram Panchayats and Village Councils across the state will benefit through the convergence of 20 government departments.

The event was also attended by Social Welfare and Social Education Minister Tinku Roy, Tribal Welfare Minister Bikas Debbarma, social worker Bipin Debbarma, West Tripura District Magistrate Dr. Vishal Kumar, Tribal Welfare Secretary Dr. K. Sashikumar, and West District SP Kiran Kumar, among others.
