In a proud moment for Manipur and the Northeast region of India, Haobam Joyremba, Managing Director of CubeTen Technologies Pvt. Ltd., represented the country at the prestigious Global Artificial Intelligence (AI) Summit held at the United Nations Headquarters in Vienna, Austria.
The summit, which convened representatives from over 100 countries, focused on pressing global issues such as digital sovereignty, ethical AI development, and the role of artificial intelligence in supporting developing nations and the Global South.
Joyremba played a dual role at the summit — not only as a delegate but also as a member of the speaker selection committee. Over a rigorous three-month process, he participated in more than eight rounds of interviews and helped evaluate over 160 speaker applications from across the globe. His efforts were instrumental in curating a diverse and impactful lineup of global voices featured at the summit.
Addressing the gathering, Joyremba brought attention to the unique challenges faced by smaller and often overlooked regions like Manipur in embracing AI-driven development. He cited limitations such as the lack of advanced computing infrastructure, inconsistent access to reliable data, frequent conflict-induced disruptions, and a shortage of highly skilled professionals in fields like artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science.
“It was an honour to represent not just Manipur but also the aspirations of many similar regions that are rich in potential but often overlooked in global conversations on technology,” Joyremba said. “AI should not just be powerful — it must be inclusive, accessible, and ethical.”
The summit underscored the importance of inclusive representation in shaping global tech policies, especially from underrepresented and developing regions. Joyremba’s participation at such a high-level forum reflects the growing influence and expertise emerging from the Northeast in global discussions on technology and governance.
Under his leadership, CubeTen Technologies has spearheaded several initiatives in AI integration, e-governance, digital infrastructure development, and youth skill-building across Manipur and the Northeast. His appearance at the UN Summit is expected to open avenues for international collaborations and accelerate the region’s digital transformation.
